Outreach, service, and public engagement are essential components of the mission of our University. To nurture
and expand these activities, the Office of Public Engagement was established and Dr. Robert
McCarthy, Dean of the School of Pharmacy, agreed to serve as
Executive Director of this important enterprise.
"I am confident that the
UConn community, including our proactive Public Engagement
Forum, will
succeed in giving great impact to the collaborative efforts of
our students, faculty, and staff. We seek to engage the
broadest range of external constituents as partners
in defining, solving, and evaluating important challenges facing
our communities, our nation, and our world.”
— Peter Nicholls, Provost
About Public Engagement
We make the knowledge, expertise, and scholarship
generated at UConn do more work for the people
of Connecticut by bringing faculty, staff,
and students together with people throughout
the State who are involved in real-world problem
solving, such as educators, community groups,
businesses, local government, individuals,
and families.
